THE EVELYN SERIES #1

Watercolor on Arches paper

16.5" x 20.5"

Inspired by the first watercolor, the artist continued using symbols from native rock art; and kept the same color palette.

THE EVELYN SERIES #2

Watercolor on Arches paper

16.5" x 20.5"

Spirals, snaking lines, hatching, stippling, and slash marks are painted in violet, blue, green, yellow, red and magenta.

THE EVELYN SERIES #3

Watercolor on Arches paper

16.5" x 20.5"

With each new watercolor, the artist saw new things emerging. In #4, she saw a comet sweeping diagonally across the paper.

THE EVELYN SERIES #4

Watercolor on Arches paper

16.5" x 20.5"

Wavy lines of yellow are reminiscent of Evelyn’s strawberry blonde hair. Spirals and other marks reflect her spirit’s energy.

THE EVELYN SERIES #5

Watercolor on Arches paper

16.5" x 20.5"

The sixth watercolor takes on a softer energy with the spirals, a symbol of spiritual development, resembling blooming roses.

THE EVELYN SERIES #6

Watercolor on Arches paper

16.5" x 20.5"

A bolder watercolor with bigger spirals and more brushwork in turquoise. Native cultures believed turquoise attracts water.

THE EVELYN SERIES #7

Watercolor on Arches paper

16.5" x 20.5"

In this watercolor, spirals are also reminiscent of kivas, where Pueblo people connected with Earth, the Underworld and Sky.

THE EVELYN SERIES #8

Smaller spirals fill the page, along with other markings. In numerology, the number 9 brings completion and new beginnings.
