RIVER CRITTERS

Waterman's Way Public Art Project

34" x 44" x 37"

Each "river critter" character (jellyfish, oyster, crab, perch, rockfish, pufferfish) was initially hand drawn, then digitally redrawn to incorporate the tartan design into the river critter's overall design. The artwork was then outputted onto vinyl, wrapped onto the surface with a heat transfer process. The Fiberglass boots were painted in acrylic and non-skid paint and once the critters were all applied, the boots were sealed.

"River Critters" is permanently installed in Town Centre Park in Kilmarnock, Virginia, on a splash pad, where children spend many a sunny day frolicking in the water. Adults can often be seen shooting photographs of the children, and even have photos taken of themselves, standing in or lounging on the boots.
